Work With Intention to Grow Your Business
When we are in network marketing, a lot of us tend to wait for people to come to us. We put a post on social media, and we cross our fingers that people liked it, fingers crossed that they’d private message us. There have been times, to be honest with you, I’ve waited on somebody to knock on my door, or I waited for the phone to ring, and I found myself waiting a lot. Waiting, and relying on other people to get my business going.
What I’ve learned is to work with intention, getting out there and intentionally sharing your story, sharing the product, sharing the opportunity. There are so many people in this world that could use extra income, and I look at it as doing people a disservice if I don’t share with them. If they don’t want it, that’s fine. Maybe they have enough money and they don’t need more.
It’s my job to let them know about network marketing. I was in the salon industry. I owned a salon. I was an aesthetician, doing facials. I totally thought that I had it made. I honestly did. I was working 50 or 60 hours a week. I was going home from that business and taking all that stress with me, and probably taking it out on my family, my children, and probably not being as healthy as I could be because I was so stressed out. I thought, “You know what? I’m the boss, and I don’t need anything more than this.”
Here’s my point. I never knew about network marketing, never had a clue about it. The things that I heard about it were, “It’s shady, it’s a scheme.” Those are the things that I heard, and I could care less because I knew, “I’ll never be in an industry like that. I’m always going to be an owner. I’m always going to own my own business, my brick and mortar business.” That’s just what I thought I was always going to do the rest of my life.
Had someone not come and shared the opportunity with me, I would have no idea, so that is working your business with intention. She contacted me, shared the opportunity with me, let me know how I could possibly incorporate it with my business, reminded me of all the people that I knew, and told me that I would be perfect. That’s working your business with intention.
I’m sure she also posted on social media and she waited for people to contact her, or she boosted one of her posts and waited for someone to contact her, or she did a follow up with someone that she had talked to a long time ago, and she waited on them to contact her. But she was also using her will, and her know-how, and her determination to go out and work with intention to grow her business. I remember a specific time where I was intentionally working my business, and I thought, “If I don’t ask them, the answer is definitely going to be ‘no.'”
You have to ask. You have to. You want to get a yes or no. I like to say, “You would be perfect in this business. I want you to know that I want you on to work my team. I want you to work this business. Are you open to a side project? Are you open to an opportunity where you can make a little bit of extra money?” That is asking. Ask some people that.
We throw out the business, and how to build the business, and then we wait for them to ask their husband, or talk to their best friend, or they wait till payday. They’re constantly giving you excuses. You need to become a professional asker, and work your business with intent. All the different tools that you can use, are social media and everything that you’re doing, but promise yourself, and challenge yourself to ask 2 or 3 people a day. Intentionally mention the product, or mention the business to 2 or 3 people a day.
Waiting sucks. Work with intention if you want to grow your business.
